As I mentioned, in my last blog post, I got way behind in posting and, I just had to let some stuff go, otherwise, I would have never caught up. Right now, I have hundreds of pictures, that I was taking over the last few weeks. Most of them have to do with, the progression of fall. In this post, which will be mostly just a picture post, I’m going to go through all those folders of pictures and, post the ones that I feel are worthy shots.
The fall colors, this year, started early and, from what I’m seeing right now, they seem to be fading a bit and, that could mean a lack-luster color season, from now on. I’ve seen this happen before but, there’s really no way to predict what nature will do or, not do. Just ask the weather forecasters. No, on the other hand don’t, they’ll just lie through their teeth, like a politician does. Nevertheless, nature is unpredictable and, that’s a fact.
So, let’s get started with some of these photos. I’m just going through them, as I’m posting them here and, it might take some time but, we are into some rainy weather now and, I don’t know how many days it’s going to last for.
These pics will be from all over the place. Frankly, I don’t even remember where I took most of them. 🙂
From a paddle I did on Ompa Lake, which turned out to be, not such a great day for pictures.
This snake was lying on the road and, at first, I thought that it was dead but, it wasn’t. The cold had it feeling a bit lethargic and, it was trying to warm itself up since, the black pavement attracts heat. Nevertheless, it would have eventually gotten run over so, I lifted it back into the grass, on the side of the road.
Yep, some wildflowers are still blooming but, many are starting to dwindle away.
I’m still seeing the odd butterfly or moth around.
I find fall colors particularly difficult to reproduce in photos. There’s an inherent tendency to over-saturate because, if you don’t then, the photos look a bit drab, compared to the real thing.
Also, Canon cameras, in particular, are well-known for over-saturating reds, blues and, yellows.
So, I have to do a lot of post-processing, to try and get the shots as I saw them, not as the camera saw them.
It’s a real balancing act and, I suppose that, everyone will have their own ideas about what fall colors photos should look like.
The section of road that, I call, the Ompa Straightaway.
Once again, the Ompa Straightaway, as the colors progress.
It is so difficult to get the colors, in these types of shots, correct and, natural. As I’ve mentioned, many times before, I’m not a photographer and, I don’t want to be a photographer but, I do try to capture true images, as best I can, within the limitations of not knowing. 🙂
Rainy weather has taken over here now and, it looks like there’s going to be a lot of it. So, I’m stuck inside and, there’s nothing I can do about it. 😦
